A research position is available at the Institute of Information Engineering, Automation, and Mathematics, STU in Bratislava in the field of embedded optimization-based control. We are seeking an Early Stage Researcher (ESR) to work on implementation of explicit model predictive control on programmable logic controllers (PLCs). The successful candidate will also work on case studies with the employing partner and with other consortium partners. The position is funded by the TEMPO EU FP7 project.
This 3-year education program will provide the candidate with in-depth training in embedded optimization and control at the host organization as well as a period of secondment to another consortium partner. The task of the ESR will be to develop novel methods that will allow to implement optimization-based controllers on PLCs. Since PLCs typically provide very limited memory resources on the scale of several kilobytes, the optimization strategy has to be suitably simplified as to meet these restrictions.
The position is open to applicants who have not resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Slovakia for more than 12 months in the past 3 years. Compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.
More information about the position and instructions on how to apply can be found here.
